Real Weddings We Captured At National Gallery of Victoria

National Gallery of Victoria| Wedding Venue Vision And Insights

Located next to the Yarra River in Southbank, the NGV stands as an iconic destination for art as well as weddings. Featuring contemporary architecture design, waterfalls, as well as pleasant gardens, the National Gallery of Victoria offers everything you want for a modern Melbourne CBD wedding.

Weddings at NGV are truly exciting: walking into the venue, you will immediately be immersed in the moody vibe thanks to the ambient lighting. Featuring the largest stained-glass roof by Leonard French, the phenomenal Great Hall with a maximum 450 capacity is where you will be celebrating your wedding at the National Gallery of Victoria.

When getting married at NGV, one of the many benefits you will get is the accessibility to opportunities for stunning wedding photography. The front of NGV features the iconic arch together with the glass with waterfall, while inside the National Gallery of Victoria, depending on your preference, you could wander around the gallery and take photos in front of pretty much any backdrop you like.

One and probably the only drawback of weddings at the NGV is that they don’t host for onsite wedding ceremonies. However, there are plenty of wedding ceremony locations nearby, such as the Royal Botanic Gardens as well as the Kings Domain Park. Bare in mind that a permit will be needed for any outdoor garden ceremonies from the city of Melbourne council.

National Gallery of Victoria offers two stunning rooms to cater for different kinds of weddings, the Great Hall is NGV’s biggest wedding reception room with maximum 450 guest capacity, featuring Leonard French’s breathtaking stained-glass ceiling, it offers a majestic backdrop for a memorable wedding dinner.

On the other hand, the Garden Restaurant offers the perfect setting for more intimate weddings at National Gallery of Victoria. The Garden Restaurant can accommodate up to 120 guests while also offers a chic outdoor terrace overlooking the Gardens framed by the city skyline.

National Gallery of Victoria Wedding Reviews (4.7)

Johnny: We were truly surprised when we heard National Gallery of Victoria was available to host our wedding reception. We were so honoured to be able to host at this absolutely amazing venue. Honey from National Gallery of Victoria wedding team really made the process straight forward and an enjoyable experience. She would prompt us with reminder emails well ahead of time to make sure we were on the ball early and not too stressed making ‘last minute’ decisions. She and the staff at the National Gallery of Victoria were accommodating to our requests and went above and beyond to make our plans a reality (our budget was the only restraint, nothing they couldn’t do). There were a few hiccups along the way with caterers and costings cause let’s face it: which wedding ever goes smoothly and to plan?!?! But Honey will ALWAYS try her absolute BEST to make things work and overall we are very happy with how our wedding turned out.

Dave: We recently worked at a wedding at National Gallery of Victoria and cannot speak highly enough about the staff, service, food and place itself! Being a supplier for the night, they welcomed us so warmly and ensured we had everything we needed to get our job done. If you are searching for an awesome venue to hold your next function/wedding.. look no further than the National Gallery of Victoria!
