It is entirely legal for adults over 18 to have shots at a private event, and nowhere in our contract does it state that alcohol—or shots—were prohibited for the 18th birthday celebration. Despite this, Abbey enforced restrictions that were not outlined anywhere in our agreement, which came across to me as arbitrary and unjustified.
Furthermore, in my experience, the service manager Abbey displayed extremely poor professionalism. She was rude, dismissive, and completely unaccommodating. She spoke disrespectfully to me and my guests and refused to serve shots to adults who were all well over the age of 40 at our private event. Her conduct, in my view, represents a serious failure in customer service.
This was by far the worst experience I have ever had when hosting an event. I have organized many functions—18ths, 21sts, 40ths, 50ths—and I have never been treated as poorly as I was by Abbey. Based on this experience, I will never hire or recommend any venue associated with the Lola group if this is the level of treatment customers can expect.
I wouldn't go back to this venue if my life depended on it. Firstly the father of the 18 year old was denied any more than 1 shot at the bar and was told no more shots for the night & this was at 8 o'clock, no he wasn't drunk, and no it wasn't in the contract, he was the one paying the bill. The little tyrant at the door called my partner a liar, Abbey was her name, then behind my back, she said if she doesn't watch out, I'll kick her out & I know this because my partner was standing right beside her when she said it....really great customer service, I think she needs an attitude adjustment. The food was tasteless, gave us Sushi rolls with only carrots and 1 tiny prawn, no salt ir pepper and sauce. The best food was what we bought ourselves. The bar staff were very nice and the lady serving food was kindly. So no I would not recommend this venue to anyone, least not my friends or family. Very bad job, thumbs down & no this is not a fake review, its a fact.
I hosted my 21st birthday celebration here in August, and people are still talking about it to this day!From my very first enquiry right through to the execution on the day, the communication was seamless and the staff were so helpful and friendly. Every team member I dealt with was lovely, professional, and genuinely invested in making the event special.The venue itself was absolutely perfect and matched my “touch of pink” theme beautifully. It offered a great space, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and it truly created the perfect setting for an unforgettable night.Thank you to the whole team for making my 21st so memorable, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience!
